Re-arrangment of matches

Please be aware that the rule for re-arranging matches is quite clear. The request for re-arranging a match due to not being able to field a team is not a valid reason to re-arrange a match and the request should be denied. Therefore, please note the wording as repeated here and ensure that with immediate effect the rules are followed. The full support of all clubs is expected on this.

“A match once arranged shall not be postponed except by permission of the Honorary Secretary which shall not normally be given except in the case of unavailability of hall or other exceptional circumstances”

Sad News

I am very saddened to inform you of the untimely death of Mark Gallagher last week. Mark was a member of Windy Arbour and previously AV Rugby. He will be sadly missed by all of those who knew him.
On behalf of the CBA I would like to extend our sincere sympathies to Mark’s family and friends.

Calling all Warwickshire veteran badminton players!

Would you like to represent your County? If so please read on. Are you over 40 and under 65 and would like to play veterans badminton?

This season we have teams in the over 40s, two sides in the over 45s, one team in the over 55s and one in the over 60.

We are still looking for players who fit the age criteria and want to play. You will need to playing for a club side and of a reasonable standard of play. The matches will take place from October to March. The home venue is Bridge Sports Centre, Leamington Spa.

There will be two practice sessions before the start of the season on Sunday 11th and 18th September starting at 11.00am – 2.00pm. It will be £5 each and everyone who is interested in playing for any of the sides is welcome.

Those people who contacted me last November and December are more than welcome to attend, although I will be contacting you personally in the next month.

Funeral arrangements

The funeral arrangements for Jon Froggett have been announced. The service will take place on Monday 20th June at 3pm at St Paul’s Church in Nuneaton. Everyone is welcome. The full address is:

Instead of sending flowers, Jon’s family have requested that donations be made to a memorial fund that is being set up in Jon’s name which will be used to support badminton in the local community. Donations for this fund are currently being taken at Central Sports. Further details for cheque payments will be announced at a later date.

Sad news

I am very saddened to inform you of the untimely death of Jon Froggett over the weekend. Jon was a member of Jubilee, he also regularly played county matches for Warwickshire and also in local tournaments. Jon was a stalwart of local badminton and played as often as he could and he will be sadly missed by all of those who knew him.
On behalf of the CBA I would like to extend our sincere sympathies to Jon’s family and friends.

The existing committee would like to again appeal for new members for the coming season. At the forthcoming AGM the positions of League Secretary and League Treasurer will become vacant.

To be held on May 13th at the Standard Triumph Club, Coventry. 7.00 for 7.30pm. Ticket Cost £16.50, Please ensure all monies are with the committe by no later than May 6th. Once again it is a 3 course carvey meal and dancing to the popoular Ace Face Disco. Tickets will be available for posting from Martin Wheatley from Tuesday 26th April. Vegetarian meal options are available but must be clearly notifed ahead of the event.

Return of CBA trophies

Ladies and Gents, it’s that time again!

We need to start receiving all of the trophies handed out at last year’s presentation and we can’t get them soon enough now!

There is a lot of work involved in making sure these trophies are gleaming and engraved with the names of the winning clubs!

There are many ways you can return these trophies, firstly to Barry Veasey our trophy co-ordinator via Barkers Butts BC or indeed to any committee member who may live close to you, we will gladly accept and pass them onto Barry.
